Phyllostachys nigra

Phyllostachys nigra is a tall running bamboo, growing to four meters tall, with striking black canes. Extremely cold hardy, Phyllostachys nigra is the only dark caned bamboo that will grow in Tasmania's cold winter climate. When used appropriately in ornamental containers or raised retaining beds, this is a stunning feature in any garden. 

Note: this is a running bamboo and is only suitable for growing in pots and containers. In ground planting should only be undertaken by qualified landscapers familiar with methods of root containment.
