Leptospermum lanigerum
Leptospermum lanigerum
Leptospermum lanigerum, a hardy, fast-growing Tasmanian native evergreen with soft grey-green foliage and masses of small white flowers in Spring and early Summer. Leptospermum lanigerum (Woolly Tea Tree) is particularly useful for natural screening and hedging, with its soft, woolly foliage providing a lovely contrast to darker green planting. Responds well to clipping, making it equally suited to informal screening or tighter, more formal hedges.
Found growing naturally throughout Tasmania, often alongside waterways and in damp gullies, Woolly Tea Tree is particularly well adapted to cooler climates and wetter soils. Once established, it is also tolerant of periods of dry weather, making it an excellent option for difficult sites where more traditional hedging varieties may struggle.
